One of the nicest things that can happen at a very crowded national park during peak season is a good thunderstorm. If you happen to be at a picturesque, high traffic location the people all go away and you get the place to yourself.

Double Cluster & Andromeda Galaxy Rising Over Half Dome

I love this image and I wish I'd gotten a chance to shoot it with a waning crescent moon to brighten the foreground a bit. This is a stitched composite image shot with a 85mm lens. There were eight shots taken for the (6-second exposures) sky and stitched .and six taken for the foreground (25-seconds) and stitched. I then combined the two sets in different layers.
