Distressed Green Heron
I was wondering around a pond looking for opportunities to photograph water fowl. After a few minutes and heard a distressed squeaking. After morel looking through reeds and cattails I found this green heron snagged upside down on fishing line. Immediately after capturing this shot I waded into the water and freed the distressed bird. It was so exhausted it didn't try to fight me off; it just held still while I unraveled the fishing line from it's talon. Once freed, it got up-right in the water, flew about 20 feet away and stood there for several minutes before mustering the strength to fly off. Judging by how it flew the bird was tired, but otherwise fine.
